The owners of this Ponsonby property, which looked to be just another drab villa, used colour to differentiate themselves from their neighbours. The house painters had painted the interior of this property some years before and were well familiar with the work that was necessary on the exterior.
As with many homes erected in the 1890s, the exceptional workmanship of the era was on full show. This project took substantial planning to repair because of the ornate filagree, sweeping twisted balustrades, and stained glass windows.
The windows had been painted several times over the years and were peeling and cracking. Before painting, these were sanded, primed, and filled. The weatherboards were in a sound condition for their age and simply needed sanding and filling to be ready for painting.
However, it was the great colour decision that set this Ponsonby property apart. The windows have been painted in Dulux Okarito and the weatherboards are Dulux Spirits Bay.
This lovely Ponsonby property now proudly exhibits its colour personality, and the house painters consider themselves extremely privileged to have been a part of such an amazing transformation.
